Sep 12, 2017Cancervive Cycling TourRide begins in Banff National ParkIf you love cycling out in the country and enjoying Alberta’s beautiful landscape, your passion can help people impacted by cancer. Over a 11-year period, the Cancervive Cycle Tour has raised over $100,000 for both Wellspring facilities in Edmonton and Calgary. Last year, our Edmonton Cancervive Cycle Tour group raised over $8,000 that went directly to Wellspring Edmonton. This year, in time for Canada’s 150th Birthday, The Cancervive Cycle Tour is doing a six-day tour through gorgeous Banff National Park and the foothills of Southern Alberta. The cycling tour is scheduled for September 12 to 17, 2017 with the route starting from Calgary into the Rockies and back to Calgary via Rocky Mountain House and Cochrane. Sign up for the the full tour or for the last leg from Cochrane to Calgary. Your donations raised will go directly to supporting the over 40 programs and services Wellspring Edmonton is providing for people in Edmonton and northern Alberta whose lives are affected by a canc

Cranky's Road & Mountain Cycling Club

 ABOUT US

We are a group of St. Albert based cycling enthusiasts.  Some of our member’s race but our main focus is riding and having fun.  We have a number of rides that range from our beginner focused Monday night rides to our fast paced Wednesday night training rides.  New for 2017, we are offering a women's beginner mountain bike ride with our Tuesday night mountain bike rides as well as a womens road ride on Thursday evenings. We will also have a "Beer Ride" on the last Friday of the month (April-August). Watch for monthly club newsletters starting in  early April.

As of May 1st, ride leaders will be using Team App to send out ride updates. When you join the club you'll be e-mailed an invitation to join Team App. Until then, we will continue to use e-mails just like last year.

OUR RIDES

Monday: Beginner Road Ride (starts at 6:30 pm)

Slower Group: will be approximately an hour and a half and will ride 30 km total (average speed 20-25 km/h).  If you’ve never done a group road ride before this is the ride for you.  This ride typically follows a non-technical route and we focus on getting everybody comfortable with riding in a pack.  This is a no drop ride.

Faster Group: will be approximately 2 hours, and will ride between 40-50 km total (average speed 30km/h).  This ride is perfect for riders that have done group rides in the past and are looking for a steady paced, more social ride.

Tuesday: Mountain Bike Ride Men's and Women's  (starts at 7:00 pm) Will be approximately 2 hours, with various riding locations such as: Terwillegar park, Fort Saskatchewan, and the River Valley. Open to all skill levels!  This year we've added a women's only mountain bike ride that will focus on beginner to intermediate level riders.

Wednesday: Fast Road Ride (starts at 6:30 pm) Will be approximately 2 hours long, and will ride between 60-70 km (must be able to ride 35 km/h).  If you like to push yourself, and you have some group riding experience, this is the ride for you.  It’s fast paced and riders can get dropped.

Thursday: Women's Road Ride (starts at 6:30 pm) Will be approximately an hour and a half and will ride 30 km total (average speed 20-25 km/h).  This ride typically follows a non-technical route and we focus on getting everybody comfortable with riding in a pack.  This is a no drop ride.

Sunday: Grand Fondo Ride (ride start is tbd) Will be approximately 2-3 hours long, and will ride between 60-90 km (average speed 30 km/h).  This ride is great for anybody that’s planning on doing a Fondo this summer.
